Sustainability

What is sustainability for Censeo Group?
Choosing to operate in the field of renovation is the first step taken in the area of sustainability. Renovating represents a “sustainable” practice: taking advantage of existing buildings and not demolishing them to build new ones inevitably results in the reduction of waste to be disposed of properly, a saving of resources both in terms of materials and consequent energy resources that feed the entire supply chain.
The most sustainable thing remains to preserve the appearance and historical value of buildings, preserving architectural and cultural heritage and recovering, where possible, elements that, if not needed on site, can be regenerated and relocated elsewhere.
The “Recycling Beauty” exhibition held at the Prada Foundation a few years ago explained the concept of Reuse very well for both works of art and architectural elements. With urban regeneration, a piece can leave its initial condition to be reactivated and given a new value through a new location and relative reuse.
The construction industry has a huge impact on the environment: according to the 2022 Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction, the construction industry causes 37 percent of carbon dioxide emissions and consumes more than 34 percent of global energy demand.
Since it has been operating Gruppo Censeo has adopted practices that seek to minimize its environmental impact: consciously choosing materials, optimizing resource use, complying with safety regulations, and investing in employee training. Gruppo Censeo completed the external certification process and was found to be in compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 for the field “construction, renovation and maintenance of buildings.” In addition to the procedures Gruppo Censeo has equipped itself with a monitoring system to ensure the highest possible quality, highest efficiency and least waste.
Special attention is also paid to promoting short supply chain and sourcing of km0 materials. In fact, Censeo Group has equipped itself with a large means and materials storage warehouse in a central area of Milan to considerably reduce travel from construction warehouses and have space to be able to implement “recycling” practices: discarded elements from construction sites are evaluated and selected, and if deemed of particular interest, they are restored and recovered thanks to collaborations with professionals in the sector.
Energy efficiency in new construction is a key element in the fight against climate change; national and European regulations also aim to reduce the energy consumption of buildings. Principals are increasingly aware of and sensitive to environmental issues; energy-saving solutions are developed with designers, choosing recycled, natural, insulating, and environmentally sustainable materials that provide better environmental comfort.
Better thermal insulation, high-performance windows, and efficient heating and cooling systems help create more pleasant and healthy environments. Eco-design or green design is not just a fad but increasingly a necessity.

Censeo Group and Corporate Social Responsibility.
People are a core asset of the business as well as the artisan values of savoir-faire, hard work and labor: Giacomo Paddeu, one of the founding partners has always maintained that “If you live in Bergamo and Brescia it is in your DNA. Since childhood in your family you are permeated by craftsmanship, you know at least one person who works in the industry. It’s a humble job and we try to pass on the tradition with love.”
Working for Censeo Group means being part of a “group,” working together, working hard and working well. The company is aware of the role of its boys and co-workers and the fact that in the construction industry, especially in our present time, workers often face difficult conditions and hectic work rhythms; thus, certain choices are implemented with a view to corporate welfare that can make a difference in improving the quality of life of workers and promoting a responsible corporate culture.
When Censeo Group decided to invest in cultural and social events, it also adopted a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) model that goes beyond simply focusing on economic aspects, a conscious investment choice that is based on the understanding that the long-term success of a company also depends on the quality of the social and cultural context in which it operates.
Since 2015, Censeo Group has decided to sponsor art initiatives, cultural events or social inclusion events, as well as having developed its own review of cultural events under the name Censeo per l’arte.
