ASICS Onitsuka Tiger Paris
Retail
Onitsuka Tiger has opened its second Paris boutique at 25 Avenue des Champs-Élysées, the iconic avenue symbolic of French grandeur. Located in the historic Art Nouveau building of the Hôtel de la Païva, built in the mid-nineteenth century and recognizable by its charming gray porous stone façade, the boutique spans approximately 3,800 square meters, organized across two levels. Past the entrance, through a scenic Tiger yellow resin staircase, visitors enter the lower level, characterized by a central space with an vaulted ceiling and barrel vaults in the side spaces. At the end of the hall stands the iconic Onitsuka Tiger space, featuring a yellow resin floor contrasting with black mortar walls. Completing the design are the fitting rooms, cleverly created from a former bank vault within the building. A brand-new addition to this boutique is the in-house café, which serves an exclusive Onitsuka Tiger signature coffee blend—an extra indulgence for customers, offering an even more immersive and stimulating experience.
The project required complex technical work, starting with the complete renovation of the systems, including air conditioning and ventilation, which were specifically designed for the boutique space and enhanced on the upper floor to counteract the accumulation of warm air. The walls of the first and second rooms were treated with a strollato, a particular type of plaster applied mechanically using a crank, while the flooring is almost entirely made of resin. On the ground floor, a skylight was installed which, thanks to an integrated Barisol panel, channels natural light from the terrace above, creating intense and diffuse illumination.
Great attention was paid to enhancing the original elements of the building: arches, pillars, and Art Nouveau details were preserved and harmonized with contemporary elements consistent with the brand’s aesthetic. Examples include the glossy black shelving inspired by traditional Japanese lacquer boxes, and decorative concrete customized with Japanese mortar. The result is a cutting-edge space where Tokyo style meets European culture, in a perfect balance between modernity and historical memory.
