At the end of December 2020, the first Italian Onitsuka Tiger flagship store was launched in Milan in Piazza XXV Aprile. This work was followed in its entirety by the art director of the company Andrea Pompilio and, as local architect, by the architect Filippo Dini.
The Gruppo Censeo first took care of the demolition of the pre-existing buildings and subsequently of the restructuring of the internal spaces with the fitting of new plumbing, heating and air exchange systems, along with the installation of a sophisticated video surveillance system. The work was carried out with precision and accuracy, with particular focus on the safety and sanitation provisions in the construction site, so as to deal with the Covid-19 epidemic and allow the work to run smoothly.
The store has been designed as if it were a theatre consisting of three main rooms, each dedicated to a concept: the first space is the “Laboratory”, an environment which experiments with shades of grey with simple furnishings and a strong industrial feel, the second is the “Japanese Black Lacquer Box” in homage to Japanese craftsmanship. The last room is the “Gallery”: a space featuring the iconic yellow Tai-chi

The collaboration between Gruppo Censeo, the brand’s creative director Andrea Pompilio, and architect Filippo Dini is being renewed and strengthened. As Pompilio himself revealed in an interview, each store is: “a showcase theater of the brand’s history.” Gruppo Censeo teams, starting in fall 2024, have moved to the main European capitals. Ongoin works on English soil in the existing Onitsuka Tiger Regent Street store in London; work in progress in Paris directly on the renowned Champs-Élysées, in the Onitsuka Tiger Hotel. Dating back to the 18th century, the building that houses the Onitsuka Tiger Hotel is one of the most significant historical structures on this iconic avenue in the French capital.
Finally, the Asics Group will open the first Onitsuka Tiger store in Spain at number 27 of Paseo de Gracia, the most important commercial avenue in Barcelona.
